Skater (and volunteers) Massages!

Nothing beats a rub down for sore muscles after a hard bout…..or anytime, really!

Former RCR Skater, Scarracuda aka Sarah Murende, is a professional masseuse. She will be coming to Season’s Beatings, from 11 am to 6 pm.

She is offering massages to all skaters and volunteers for a 50% discount! We can get massaged for $1/minute (15 minute time slots).

So, bring some extra cash on Saturday, if you’re going to want a massage. Click HERE for  more details, or to sign up ahead of time for a time slot.

If you don’t sign up ahead of time, you can still get a massage on Saturday. It will be first come, first serve the day of the event.

Are you excited yet?  I can’t believe Season’s Beatings is THIS SATURDAY!

RCR Quilt Raffle

Well, you knew the derby girls are talented on the track…..but they are artistic and creative, too!

The River City Rollergirls have crafted this amazing derby quilt.  And, YOU could win it at Season’s Beatings!

Cost of a raffle ticket:  $10.  You can bring your money to Season’s Beatings, or get your ticket ahead of time by clicking on THIS LINK.  When you get to the page, click DONATE, (which is basically the same as pay, right?).

Then, enter the amount of $10.00 and put in the “Special Instructions to Seller Notes” the word QUILT.  You will then be entered into the drawing for your chance to win!  Questions? e-mail Thistle Hurt for more information.

PAY FOR FOOD BY CLICKING HERE Then, click DONATE!

The paypal link will say “donate” but donate = pay.

Please put the same name on your payment and your order. On your payment, please put the word “FOOD” in the comment box and your amount. If you just get lunch or breakfast, pay $6.50, if you get both, pay $12.00. We’re looking into a better e-commerce solution for next year, I promise.  Thank you for going through 2 steps.

You will definitely enjoy this food from these talented chefs!

Registration Update!

Hello, skaters!  Updated 11/26/12

120 skaters from leagues around the East Coast have already signed up to participate in Season’s Beatings.  ALL Bouts are now FULL.  If you want to register, you can still be added to the Wait List.  Please see the Skater Registration page for more details.

Rosters.  Even though there may be some changes, as inevitable cancellations occur, they will be posted on or before 11/15, so folks can start finding/making shirts.  Each team is captained by a RCR skater, who will be contacting her team soon.

More awesome information coming soon, as we work to make this year’s Season’s Beatings the best year ever!

Thanks!

Co-ed clarification

There has been a lot of interest in co-ed games for Season’s Beatings.

A change happening today:  The Skaters vs. Refs bout is now Skaters vs. Refs & Friends.  So, even if you’ve NEVER donned the zebra stripes, you can skate for team Ref! (I know we all love to hip check the guys and gals that call penalties on us, but they always get slaughtered….so they could use some help. Hee hee…)  Remember, you must select ADVANCED from the form to see all Co-ed bouts.

A change that may happen in the future:  if we get a lot of skaters who want co-ed bouts and a much smaller number for one of the other categories (like <1 year, for example) I might reallocate one of the less requested bouts to become a co-ed bout.  I can’t make any promises at this time; this change will be conditionally determined by skater registration.  As much as we love all of our derby sisters and brothers, we want to make this an event that has a good amount of “something for everyone.”

Thanks to all who have registered so far.  Thank you for being patient as we work to make every year bigger and better for you.  If you haven’t registered yet, you better hurry.  Even though we’ve added more bouts, we will still fill up.

Love, Thistle

Welcome to Season’s Beatings 2012!

Welcome to the website for the River City Rollergirls’ annual charity skating extravaganza!  Season’s Beatings is our annual event, where we enjoy skating with our derby sisters from all over the country, in fun-themed bouts…ALL day long!

Skater Registration is NOW Open! Skaters, please select 4 separate bout choices.  You will definitely get 3 bouts and will likely skate in all 4.

Check out Schedule of Events for the bout times and shirt colors.  New this year:  skaters self evaluate their skill level, and bouts are categorized at 3 levels.

  • <1 Year of Skating  – recently passed Fresh Meat, WFTDA minimum skills test.  Basic understanding of the rules, but not advanced strategy.
  • Intermediate — B Team Skater or Newer League All Star, similar level to RCR’s Uncivil Warriors.  All Co-ed bouts require Intermediate skills or above.
  • Advanced — Experience Skater, well familiar with all rules/strategies, similar level to RCR’s Poe’s Punishers or better.

Not sure what level to select?  Contact Thistle Hurt (she doesn’t know it all, but she will figure it out, LOL.)

Check out the FAQs page, Contact Us, and the Hotels Page for information.  We can’t wait to skate with you on December 8th!

**Are you a Referee?  If you ref at least 4 bouts, you can skate in other bouts FOR FREE. Simply fill out the Referee Registration AND the Skater Registration, but DON’T pay.  :)**
